In this manuscript, I analyzed how to overcome problem of relief through the process of atonement using adultery motif among the modern novels, Revival written by Lee, Gwang Su, Belfry written by Park, Young Jun, Back yard of Eden written by Lee, Jong Hwan. First, repentance behaviors of Soon-young in Revival are described by the observation of writer not being embodied practically. Her death means revivable life, which you may know through the title. But she should take care of her daughter and make a plan her new life if she repents of her sins. Bong-gu gives up his revenge on Soon-young and goes back to his hometown and serves the community. Like this, love for mankind is originated from philanthropy of Chun-Won who was affected from Tolstoy. Second, self-torture and ascetic atonement of Gwang-ju in Belfry shows Christian atonement and Confucian’s value. His anxiety about his sin of sexual desire is affected not sin itself but traditional value and standard of Confucian society. Finally, he regards his pain and suffering as a price of his sin, so he pursuits ascetic life as a way of self-rescue. Third, Dae-wi’s atonement in Back yard of Eden is based on moral influence, so he focuses on free medical treatment activity. He doesn’t think of pain and suffering as redemption of sin, he keeps away from sin. Because Jesus was dead instead of other people’s sin, he think that people should pursuit model life like Jesus. That is to say, people should live a moral life.
