성인학습자의 특성 요인이 평생학습 태도에 미치는 영향

A Study of the effect on the Lifelong Learning Attitude by the Adult Learners’ Characteristics

지식기반 사회에서 평생학습을 통한 국민의 지속적인 능력개발은 국가의 경제적 성장과 직결된다. 이를 위해서는 무엇보다도 국민의 평생학습 참여를 높이는 일이 우선되어야 한다. 그러나, 우리 는 평생학습 참여율 제고라는 목표에 걸맞는 실천 전략을 개발하고 있지 못한 실정이다 더욱이 성인의 학습참여를 제고하기 위한 기초 자료인 성인에 대한 이해와 특성에 따른 학습 의식, 가치 및 태도를 파악하는 작업조차 체계적으로 연구되고 있지 못한 실정이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 한국의 성인학습자의 특성을 밝히고 특히 평생학습 참여에 미치는 요인 을 분석하고자 한다. 연구결과, 우리 나라 성인들은 전반적으로 평생학습에 대해 상당히 높은 수준 의 인식을 갖고 있는 것으로 나타났으며 , 평생학습의 가치를 판단하는데 있어 외재적 가치보다 내 재적 가치를 더 중요하게 생각하고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 평생학습에 대한 이해수준이 높을수록 평생학습에 대한 긍정 적 태도를 갖고 있으며, 평생학습에 대한 가치판단 수준이 높을수록 평생학습에 대한 긍정적 태도를 갖고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 성인의 평생학습 참여율 제고를 통한 평생학습 활성화를 위해서는 평생학습에 대한 긍정적 태도를 형성할 수 있도록 평생학습에 대한 올바른 인식 확산이 선행되어야 함을 시사해주고 있다.

This study analysed the factors of Korean adult learners' characteristics that affect lifelong learning attitude. In the knowledge-based society, the continuous ability development through lifelong learning is directly related to national economic growth so that the priority should be given to the policies that increase the public's participation to lifelong learning. But, we are in a situation that we can not develop the strategy of lifelong learning participation improvement. To increase participation of adults, we must have fundamental understanding of adults' learning characteristics, aptitude toward learning, and priorities of learning. It is necessary to research on the factors that determine adults' participation to lifelong learning depending on their traits in order to establish an effective and efficient strategy to bring adults to lifelong learning. This work found the following; First, Korean adults have a considerably high level of understanding about lifelong learning. Second, they consider inner worth more important than outer worth in determining the worth of lifelong learning. In other words, they are more interested in inner worth - Qualitative improvement of democratic citizenship, enriching and enhancing pastime through volunteering, cultural activities, and others-than searching for achievement of outer incentive such as changing occupation through lifelong learning. Third, the higher their understanding of lifelong learning is, the more positive they are about lifelong learning. And the higher their inner worth is, the more positive they are about lifelong learning. It shows that to increase the participation of adults to lifelong learning, the right understanding of lifelong learning should precede to establish a positive attitude toward the lifelong learning.
