Boryeong City, Chungcheongnam-do in presence was Shinchon-hyun and Sapo-hyun, Baekje in the Three Kingdoms Age. No other historical information, however, has been found in any records. It is supposed that Boryeoung area in the Baekje Age would had the economic capacity including agriculture, marine product and salt industry. Moreover, Boryeong was an important region for Baekje to act in foreign relations or to take over the reins of the Yellow Sea. Accordingly, the central government of Baekje must had tried to rule Boryeong thoroughly. There is a tough sequence of periodic events, investing all the found tombs of Baekje in Boryeong collectively. It is believed that such tombs were made in an order from the Wooden Coffin Tomb of Changam-ri, the Tombs of Myungcheon-dong, the Tombs of Boryeong-ri, the Stone Chamber Tomb of Janghyun-ri, the Stone Chamber Tomb of Gooryong-ri, the Stone Lined Tomb of Sosong-ri to the Tombs of Yeonji-ri. We can imagine how Baekje ruled Boryeong area by studying these tombs. The person buried at the Wooden Coffin Tomb of Changam-ri was once a native-born influential person in Boryeong in the past. The central government of Baekje could extend its influence over Boryeong through him. The active administration of the central government of Baekje over Boryeong started when the Tombs of Myungcheon-dong were under construction. The provincial ruling system of Baekje was the 22 Damro System at that time. The Tombs of Boryeong-ri not only proves the proliferation of horizontal digging stone chamber tombs but demonstrates the process of the central government of Baekje carrying through its sovereign power over Boryeong under the Damro System. Furthermore, the person buried at the Stone Chamber Tomb of Janghyun-ri is assumed to be a local governmental official sent to Boryeong when the 22 Damro System was being replaced by the 5 Bang System. Especially the one at the Stone Chamber Tomb of Gooryong-ri must had concerned deeply in Baekje's ruling and governing Sapo-hyun. The one at Stone Lined Tomb of Sosong-ri, on the other hand, is being thought to be one of the general publics inhabited in Sapo-hyun. It is the Tombs of Yeonji-ri that displays the central government of Baekje's firm establishment of sovereign power at last. It is the most important and largest tumuli among the discovered Baekje tumuli in Boryeong. In this manner, the Tombs of Yeonji-ri is inferred to be closely related to an unknown-gun founded in Boryeong areaor Shinchon-hyun, Baekje.
