Kukmunjungle(국문정리) was written and printed by woodblock by Lee Bong-Wun as a korean grammar textbook in 1897. It's a bock which can confirm the letter types woodblock-printed in Hangul(한글). And also it shows writing type of calligrapher definitely. Especially there are two kinds of types in this book, little cursive and correct letter. The following is a summary about letter type in this book. 1. Letter type ① There are so many different letter shape due to lack of consistent transcription even in same letters. ② The size proportion of final consonants 'ㄱ, ㄴ' is not in balance with letters frequently. ③ There are two types of outline. square and upright rectangular. in this book, ④ The semi-cursive style comes out occasionally. ⑤ There is a unified harmony between the size of letters and the use of strokes in this bock ⑥ The vowel '-ㄴ' is linked the left' ㄱ' in the initia1 sound 'ㅁ' in the letter ‘꼴’, 2, Elements of letter ① There are many cases that the vertical strokes of an initial sound 'ㄱ' are marked shortly in the letters like '각, 간' ect, And sometimes the vertical strokes of an initial sound' 'ㄱ' are marked unusually longer to the left in the letters like '가, 거' ect ② The vertical stroke of 'ㄴ' in ‘나’ is leaning to right. ③ The upper stroke of initial sound' L' is separated very often from the lower stroke of 'ㄴ', ④ 'ㅁ' is generally spelled small. ⑤ The left stroke of initial sound 'ㅅ' is often spelled very long, sometimes the right stroke is curved to the left. ⑥ There are a lot of cases that the left stroke of initial sound and final consonant in 'ㅈ, ㅊ' is spelled unusually long, And the upper horizontal stroke and the lower left stroke are mostly divided, there are rarely linked into one stroke, ⑦ The vertical stroke in initial sound 'ㅋ' is usually short and almost vertically, ⑧ The upper horizontal stroke of initial sound 'ㅌ' is separated from the lower stroke of 'ㄷ‘. ⑨ The upper horizontal stroke of initial sound ‘ㅍ' is separated from the lower stroke of ‘ㅛ’. ⑩ The lower left stroke of ‘ㅠ’ is usually curved long. ⑪ The left stroke of 'ㅓ' in 'ㅝ' is spelled under horizontal stroke only at ‘궈, 숴’. 3. Dots and strokes ① The vertical strokes are showed clearly in original form but they are not out of thickness of the stroke and curved sharply. ② Generally the end part of vertical strokes are spelled unusually long. ③ Thickness of the stroke is almost like modern type' Taemyungjo(태명조)'. And there is not a great difference but fixed in the change of thickness.
