The study examines the learning style preferences of Korean university students and their relationships to English learning strategy use and EFL achievement. One hundred sixty seven first-year students participated in the study during their second semester of English course. Twenty three learning style preferences and the use of six categories of English learning strategies were self-reported by the students on two questionnaires. The responses were analyzed in relation to English achievement test scores of reading, vocabulary, listening and oral interview. It was found that (l) the students preferred visual, introvert, closure-oriented global, synthetic, and field-dependent learning styles, (2) learning styles explained 20% of language strategy use and about 10% of achievement, (3) the reading and translation strategies were used more frequently among the students, (4) the strategy use did not differ by sex or proficiency level, and (5) the strategy had a meager effect on reading, listening, and speaking achievement.
