This paper is aimed at looking for the old words in Soburi--which is an old name of the current Buyeo area--and interpreting them in terms of lexical history. The old words of Soburi are divided into ones from the Baekje Dynasty and ones from afterward. Therefore, this paper mainly discusses the Baekje language and also considers old words that are misunderstood as Baekje words. Soburi words of the Baekje Dynasty presented in this paper are as follows: (The meaning of each word is included in parentheses in Chinese characters) Gadi(枝), Georeo, Gura/Gora(馬, 西), Godo(琴), Geogilji/Eoraha/Nirimeu(王), Gudeora>Gudara(大王), Goma(北, 後, 神, 熊), Godo(琴) Gudi(Name of Hawk), Nari(川), Nara(津), Dolak(石), Dal(珍, 等, 月, 高, 山), Magumo(name of musical instrument), Mabo(young student), Buri(原), Buso(松), Sama(島), So/Sa(東), Euryuk(王妃), Oraguan(王冠), Owii(道袍), etc, The contemporary word, Nakhoaam(落花巖) is not a Baekje word, but came from the late period of the Goyeo Dynasty. In the Baekje period, Nakhoaam was called Tasaam(墮死巖), which means a rock from which one can fall off to die. Baemagang is also not a Baekje word because it is shown in the early literature of the Chosun Dynasty. Baemagang was called Salbigaram(白江-泗批江). The athematic form of Soburi is Sabi. After the last syllable "i"(里) was left out, Sobu(所夫 became Sabi(泗批).
