This paper aims to verify Korean women's images as a subaltern in the mass media , especially searching for how to be presented in newspapers of Yeongnam area in the 1950's. Generally, Korean women's right in 1950'had been ignored because the human right of Korea in the 1950's have been trampled not only under political ideology but also confucianism fixed in Korean people's mind for a long time. l am more interested in discourse of women in newspapers of Southern areas that implicated social variables in the 1950's. According to Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, Woman's right of the Third World is always related to the postcolonialism. She notices that cognitive failure in postcolonial surroundings can not be recovered and then one can recognize the real meaning of women's discourse only by reading deconstruction of the feminine story. Korean, also, after the colonial period during 1905-1945, divided into two countries after 1945 became another postcolonial nation. Since then, Korean women could not help but be subordinated by the double bind ; man-oriented moralism with traditional and occidental ideologies that transferred to Korean via Japanese colonial age. These double bind transformed by confucianism and the communism ideology again. Therefore, if one would not read the 'differance' (by Jacque Derrida) in newspaper's discourse in the 1950's, he or she must miss true meanings of women's discours in 1950's. In the first chapter, I deliberated that this analysis on feminine discourse in 1950's would be appropriated for Gayatri Spivak's intentions. and I proved the adequacy through colonial history and national custom. In the second and third chapter, I surveyed and searched the feuilleton's discourses in newspapers of Yeongnam in the 1950's. In the fourth chapter, I examined the facts of 'appropriation' of discourse in the 1950's by the invisible consultation between Korean nation and mass media. As a result, it was presented how obstinately the newspaper's stories of the 1950's of Yeongnam area intended to tame the Southern people in the traditional man-centered morality. One could be convinced on facts by one example ; Jang Deok Jo was so complicated a heroin that she survived as a woman writer in bith postcolonial period and the latter colonial period of the 1950's. Through this, I knew that more concrete studies are needed related to deconstructionism. Through the secret opening slit in the discourse of women, we can read the woman's desire that is frustrated by the social oppression and also, is suffocated by experiencing a scapegoat for a national foundation. Woman's slit can be translated into irony and contradiction of heroin, putting them in prison of 'double bind'. Women's self-representation and self-signification are realized by deconstructing the description of accomplished historical materials. It is difficult to understand the subaltern in Korean modern history without convicting the subjection of the woman that had been appropriated, especially in case of woman's stories in suburban area far from capital city.
