인체조각 작품의 명제에 관한 연구

A Study About the Proposition of Human Figure Sculptures

미술 작품을 상징적으로 대표하는 명제에 있어서 그 의미와 역할은 작품을 창작하고 감상할 때 중요하다. 본 연구는 인체 조각 작품을 대상으로 작가와 작품, 작품과 명제, 창작과 감상 활동 등을 살펴보아 명제의 의미와 역할 등을 알아보고, 명제가 있어야 하는 경우와 명제가 부정되는 경우로 대별하여 명제 전반에 관한 이해를 목적으로 하고 있다. 연구방법은 미술과 언어의 관계, 명제와 언어의 관계, 작품과 명제의 관계, 명제의 의미와 역할 및 작품에서 명제의 성격과 내용 등을 문헌을 통해 고찰하였다. 그리고 인체 조각 작품들에서 서양과 한국 조각가들이 일반적으로 사용하고 있는 명제의 내용, 종류 및 그 특성 등을 세분화하여 분류하고 분석하였다. 분석한 결과, 서양과 한국의 인체조각에서 명제의 특징, 공통점 및 문제점을 통해 상호 비교하면서 그 명제의 의미와 역할을 알 수 있었고, 자연관과 인간관의 다른 관점을 확인할 수 있었다.

The proposition that represents a work of art symbolically is important in creation and appreciation of works of art. The purpose of this study is a understanding about the meaning of proposition in relation to artists and sculptures in human figure; a understanding about the role of proposition in creation and appreciation of sculptures in human figure; and a discussion about the case that proposition is required in works of art and the opposite case that proposition is denied in works of art. This study deals with art and language, relation between proposition and language, relation between a work of art and proposition, the meaning and the role of proposition, the characteristics and the content of proposition, and the content and the types of proposition adopted by Western and Korean sculptors in human figure. The result of this study can be used for the study about art making and appreciation and for the sources of art education.
