A Study on prefixalization of 'deos-(덧-)'

In this study, about 'deos-(덧-)', which is presumed to be prefixalized from 'deo(더)' through transformation, the following things have been discussed. 1) Is there any changes in its meaning or function when 'deo(더)' is transformed into 'deos-(덧-)', 2) What is the function of 's(ㅅ)' in the transformation of 'deo(더)>deos-(덧-)', 3) What is the process like when 'deos(덧)+root' becomes a derivative word, 4) What characteristics can be found in the process of prefixalization of 'deos-(덧-)'? First, the answer to the question 1) is that because of the addition of 's(ㅅ)', 'deo(더)>deos-(덧-)' came to have restrictive meaning of [+repeated right in that place], and it has modified only [+verbal] inflected words and uninflected words as the result of transformation. For the question 2) and 3), the method of deduction has been used to explain them in the same chapter. 's(ㅅ)' which appeared during the process of the prefixalization of 'deo(더)>deos-(덧-)', seems to have played an important role when the adverb, 'deo(더)' became a prefix. Thus, in this study, it has been named "a very active ㅅ". During the process of prefixalization of 'deo(더)>deos-(덧-)', the syntactic structure, 'deo(더)+V' seems to first have achieved its formal closeness to 'deos(덧)+V', and then to have been fixed to it. While the adverb 'deo(더)' is connected to inflected words and becomes a syntactic structure, 'deos-(덧-)', which has been prefixalized by the transformation in its form, meaning, and function, is connected to uninflected words and becomes a morphologic one. The answer to the question 4) is that as the results of the prefixalization of 'deos-(덧-)', some characteristics are found, such as deformalization, decategorialization, meaning restriction, and function expansion. Finally, the studies on the individual prefixes as in this study will contribute to the explanation of the principles, causes, and process of prefixalization. In order to establish the presumption steps of the prefixalization of 'deos-(덧-)', the studies will have to be made up through private examinations.
