More often than not, the value of literature lies less in the world exposed outwardly than in the world hidden in works and thus teachers who make appropriate affective questioning play a crucial role in broadening children's range of thought and assiting children in reaching the internalization phase through value education. Education in affective domain is an important element in establishing values and it is more effective in literature education that deals with affective aspects than in knowledge-based education that deals with practical works. The importance of literature education has been underscored to realize the expression of overall language activities seeking for the harmony between knowledge and emotion. In this paper, affective questioning on the fairy tales through which we hear about the world was addressed as one way of approaching the goal. Based on the theoretical underpinnings of affective domain, balanced and synthetic teaching-learning through the subject of Korean was aimed at. For the purpose, the effective methods of affective questioning were explored with respect to the fairy tales in the textbooks of the 3rd and 4th grades. The effective questioning methods in the teaching-learning of fairy tale reading classes are more varied and numerous than is suggested in this paper. Therefore, more researches are expected to be done in the field of affective questioning so that literary sentiment can be promoted further through fairy tales.
