<陶山十二曲>의 창작의도와 ‘溫柔敦厚’의 의미

A Study on the Creative Intention of Dosansipigok(陶山十二曲) and the Meaning of Onyudonhu(溫柔敦厚; Gentleness and Sincerity)

This study is to investigate Yi Hwang(李滉)'s creative intention of Dosansipigok(陶山十二曲) and the real meaning of Onyudonhu(溫柔敦厚: Gentleness and Sincerity) mentioned in Dosansipigokbal(陶山十二曲跋). It has turned out that Dosansipigok is a concretely configured work by Yi Hwang's Jintoegwan(進退觀; Advance or Retreat). Dosansipigok is the work that centers on the circumstances of hermits who live in nature after quitting their government posts and their attitudes rather than the Literati Class who possess their official ranks. The reason that Lee Hwang configures the question of Jintoe(進退) in Korean poems and songs is that he is not only discontent about his contemporary songs, but also distasteful to the attitudes of the Literati Class who participates and enjoys them. His discontent is represented by comparing Hallimbyeolgok(翰林別曲) with Jangyukdangyukga(藏六堂六歌) in Dosansipigokbal while criticizing the attitudes of poetic speaker and Dosansipigok is configured in terms of gaining control over the two said works. Therefore, the attitudes of poetic speakers or their tone in Onyudonhu of Dosansipigok is one of the concrete ways to examine the real meaning of the work.
