경계분쟁은 경계 확정 및 소유권의 범위에 관한 분쟁, 도상경계외 현실경계의 불일치의 인한 분쟁, 경계 침범에 관한 분쟁 등으로 분류할 수 있다. 이러한 경계분쟁은 대부분 이웃 간에 발생하며, 소유권과 재산권에 관련되어 있고, 장기적 분쟁이며, 분쟁 당사자 모두에게 실익이 적다고 볼 수 있다. 따라서 소모적이고 투쟁적인 기존의 경계분쟁을 쌍방의 이익을 도모하는 한편 시간적ㆍ경제적ㆍ정신석 피해도 최소화하기 위해 대안적 분쟁해결기구에 의한 분쟁해결방안을 제시하였다.

A boundary dispute can be usually caused due to the discordance of a boundary line on a map in surveying for settling ownership and range of land. Most of the dispute have arisen in neighboring areas and are related to ownership and property right. In addition, they are so prolonged thal the parties in the dispute may be physically and mentally damaged. Thus, we tried to show the solution for them by introducing a new structure. As a result, we can minimize the damages resulting from the dispute and promote landowner's interest.
