The Optimal Inventory Level in Rental Industries

소매 대여업체의 입장에서 볼 때, 대여 제품의 적절한 재고관리는 수익을 극대화하는 문제와 직결되어 있다. 본 연구에서는 대여수요에 불확실성이 존재하고 수요가 대여가격의 함수일 때, 대여업체의 수익성을 극대화하기 위한 각 시점 별 최적재고 수준에 대하여 알아보았다. 그 결과 각 시점의 최적재고수준은 시간이 경과함에 따라 일정한 수준까지 점증하는 형태로 나타났다. 이를 달성하기 위해서 대여업체는 영업 초반부 기간에 몇 차례에 걸쳐서 나누어 제품을 주문하거나, 주문은 한 번 하더라도 배송시점을 분산할 필요가 있다.

This research deals with the issues concerning how many inventories rental retailers should maintain to maximize their profits when rental demand is uncertain and it behaves as a function of a rental price. It turns out to be that the optimal inventory level increases as time goes by until it reaches a certain level. Rental retailers need to distribute their order receipt time so that they can control their inventory levels.
