Miscellaneous Characteristic and meaning of <Dong Hang Gi(東行記)>

The purpose of this paper is to review miscellaneous characteristic and meaning of a traveler's journal essay of Seaha(西河) Lim Chun(林椿) or <Dong Hang Gi(東行記)>, who lived a poor life because of Military officers revolt of Kory5 . The study on many works of Lim Chun, specially Chinese poetry or Ga Jean Che(a novel which anthropomorphizes a thing) has done a lot so far. However, as for his journal essay or <Dong Hang Gi>, it has not been studied before, and the work was introduced little. <Dong Hang Gi> is the work that Lim Chun wrote during wandering out of Military officers' persecution, and it is contained in 「Dong Moon Sean(東文選)」 All the contents consist of 873 letters, and prose and four poems are interposed. First of all, it can be the longest work among domestic Kwan Yu Ki Hang Moon(觀遊紀行文) created from the era of the Three Kingdoms. Specially, it is a masterpiece which shows lyrical feeling base on the theme of domestic traveling, and is a crucial work to consider an influenced relation with <Nam Hang Wol Il Gi(南行月日記) of Lee Kyubo and <Dong Yu Gi(東遊記) of Lee Gok. <Dong Hang Gi> is the work which consists of 3 bodies construction and the entire description structures are constructed with prose. In the middle body, it has the feature that makes perfect prologue construction containing four pieces of inserted poems to connect this entire work systematically. And, it also can be high literary value as a traveler's journal essay that he passed along bamboo hills, got through Kangreung, and went to Nak San Sa(落山寺) and Gan Sung area. Above all, it is the longest one among traveler's journal essays which looked around domestic natural scenery, and described what he saw and heard from there including the era of the Three Kingdoms. Of course, the first of a traveler's journal essay is「Wangochunchukguk-jun(往五天竺國傳)」of Hey Cho, however the porpose of a writing and the object of description are different. Therefore, in <Dong Hang Gi>, the miscellaneous characteristic and meaning of the work can be considered at the point of understanding the form of a traveler's journal essay at early Kory5 and expressing sense and thought of Lim Chun clearly.
