양명학의 전파와 조선지식인 사회의 대응 - 전래와 수용과정에서 나타난 학술사상적 쟁점을 중심으로 -

The propagation of Yangming and the response in Choseon society - In Relation to the philosophical issues in the process of propagation and acceptance

본 논문은 양명학이 조선사회에 전래ㆍ수용되는 과정에서 16세기 조선 사회의 지식인들이 양명학이라고 하는 새로운 사유방식과 가치체계를 어떻게 이해하고 또 대응하고 있는지를 양명학이라고 하는 새로운 사유방식과 가치체계를 어떻게 이해하고 또 대응하고 있는지를 고찰하였다. 이질적인 사회ㆍ문화적 양식을 담고 있는 양명학이라는 사유 구조를 접촉한 조선 사회는 이 과정에서 어떠한 방식으로 자체의 학술사상을 형성하면서 자기화하고 있는지를 철학적 이론 분석뿐만 아니라 시상사적 문화사적 맥락을 고려하여 고찰하고자 한 것이다. 기존의 양명학 전래와 수용에 대한 논의는 단편적인 사실의 기술이나 특정인의 양명학관에 치중하여 16세기 조선이라는 시공간이 내함하고 있는 역동적인 면모를 부각시키지 못하고 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 문제의식을 기조로 종래의 연구 성과를 수용하면서 양명학의 전래와 수용 과정을 사상사적ㆍ문화사적 측면에서 살펴보고, 이어서 16세기 조선의 사상계에 쟁점으로 등장하였던 마음과 본성, 예의 절목과 실천 등의 문제가 양명학의 주요 명제들과 어떠한 상관을 갖는지 고찰하였다. 결국 본 논문은 조선사회의 성리학적 가치질서 확립과 재편이라는 이중적인 면모를 16세기 중엽부터 전래되기 시작한 양명학을 통해서 해명하려는 시도이다.

This dissertation aims to reflect how the ChoSun society of intelligentsia in 16 century understand and response to the new mode of thought and system of value i.e. Yangming in the process of propagation and acceptance. I want to investigate how confronting with the structure of thought such as Yangming consisted of the social and cultural modes different from ours ChoSun society could form its own thought and digest them from the standpoint of the context of the history of thought and culture. The traditional discussions about the propagation and acceptance has payed attention to the simple description of facts or the explanation of the particular viewpoint. So they couldn't disclose the dynamic image of 16 century ChoSun. Therefore accepting the results of the traditional research this dissertation tries to reflect the process of propagation and acceptance in respect of the history of thought and culture and in addition, to investigate how the important Yangming's propositions can be related to the mind and the nature, Propriety and practice etc which appears as issues in the world of thought in 16 century ChoSun. After all, this dissertation is the essay that intend to explicate the dual aspects of the establishment of the order of Neo-confucian values in ChoSun society by means of the Yangming which begins to propagate from the mid-16th century.
