Eliot's Linguistic Errors and His Personality

The present study is to look into unconscious errors in T. S. Eliot's language, and to find some of their extensive connections in his living ways and his poetic works. He would make mistakes in syntactic structure and logic, and fail to keep on a certain meaning of a term or a title throughout a piece of literary work. His syntax, for instance, includes discord of number between subject and predicate, inversion of word order or of 'movement direction,' undiscernible difference between coordinate conjunctions and subordinate ones, and the like. Eliot's language goes even to the brink of logic chaos in categorization and in theme development. And not only the meaning of a term but also his term for a meaning changes from case to case. Moreover the meaning of a subject title of his literary piece lasts for only some part of the piece as in "Tradition and Individual Talent"; and the title of a work is restless and changeable as in "The Waste Land", "Ash Wednesday", and "Four Quartets". These kinds of unsteadiness of Eliot's language might refer to his unbelievable double ways of life.
