This paper aims to reveal the nature of the correspondential vision in the poetry of D. H. Lawrence. It shows that Lawrence's correspondential vision embodies his concept of the pre-mental consciousness or the primary consciousness which animates both man and nature "mysteriously corresponds with inanimate matter." The paper argues that the vision is therapeutic in that it helps people recover from the fragmented psyche afflicted by the nerve-brain consciousness of modern mechanical age. It further suggests that the realization of the correspondential vision is redemptive. Thus, the vision is religious. Lawrence suggests that Etrurians and the American Indians were the people who lived harmoniously with everything in the universe. He seems to embody the spirit of these races in the modern times and to spread his messages of peace throughout his poetry.
