Civil Society and East Asian Governance: a Preliminary Examination on the Role of South Korean NGOs

  이 글의 목적은 ‘시민사회와 글로벌 거버넌스’의 시각, 즉 글로벌 거버넌스에 있어서 시민사회의 역할이 증대되고 있아는 시각의 동아시아적 적용 가능성을 가늠해 보고 동아시아 거버넌스 체제의 구축에 있어 한국 시민사회의 역할을 일차적으로 모색해보는 것이다.이 글에서는 동아시아 지역 거버넌스의 수요와 공급의 측면에서 시만사회의 역할이 중요해지고 있다는 점을 주장하고 이어서 한국 NGO들의 국제적 활동 사례들을 살펴봄으로써 동아시아 지역 거버넌스의 역할을 담당할 수 있는 잠재력이 있다는 점을 예시하고 있다. The goal of this paper is to examine whether the “civil society and global governance" perspective - a perspective that the role of civil society in global governance is increasingly important - is applicable to East Asia and to look for the possibility of South Korea NGOs to playa meaningful role in East Asian governance. This paper first argues that the supply as well as demand side of regional governance necessitates the role of civil society and， then illustrates the potential of South Korea NGOs in East Asian governance by focusing on some of the NGOs" interna.
