장소애착의 본질: 시 「다시 엘르에게」를 통해서

The Intrinsic Attributes of Place Attachment: In case of a Poem 「Dashi Elle ege(to Elle again)」

  이글은 인간의 장소에 대한 애착의 본질을 규명하고, 이를 김현승의 시 「다시 엘르에게」를 통해서 검증한 것이다. 장소애착이란 장소적 측면과 인간적 측면이 결합된 개념이다. 장소는 한 인간의 정체성 형성에 깊은 연관을 갖는다. 개인의 정체성은 그의 인생행로(life course)를 따라 이동한 장소를 통해서 확인되고 강화된다. 한 개인의 인생행로란 일반적으로 삶과 죽음으로 그 시작과 끝을 맺는 것이지만 이것은 지리적 행로와 다름 아니다. 즉 인생행로의 내용은 연속된 지리적 이동과, 그 이동경로에서 일어난 사건으로 구성된다. 그 내용들은 이후의 인생행로의 한 국면으로 송환(feedback) 되어 개인의 행동방식을 결정하며, 다음의 지리적 위치와 내용에 영향을 미침으로서 전후 연계가 이루어진다. 이러한 과정에서 한 개인이 경유한 각각의 지리적 위치는 그 내용과 함께 그에게 다소간의 감정적 애착을 일으키는 역할을 하게 된다. 그런데 장소에 대한 애착은 지리적 측면 이외에도 사회적, 상징적, 심리적, 정서적, 행태적 등 다양한 요소가 결합되어 있는 개념으로 앞으로 학문 상호간의 긴밀한 분석을 통해서 그 개념을 정교화 하여 통합개념으로 발전시킬 필요가 있다.

  This thesis inquires into the nature of human attachment to a place by examining 「Dashi Elle ege(to Elle again)」, a poem by Kim Hyun Seung. Place attachment is a concept comprised of two aspects, an aspect of place and a human aspect. A place is deeply related to the formation of identity of a human being. Identity of a person is confirmed and reinforced along the person"s life course. A life course of an individual generally begins with birth and ends with death, which is not very different from the geographical life course. In other words, the content of a life course of a person is determined by one"s continuous geographical migration and the events in the course of such migration. The previous content of the life course flows back as feedback into the person"s future life course and determines the person"s behavioral pattern, thereby affecting the next geographical location and content. This is the relationship between the previous and the next content of a life course. In this process, each geographical location that an individual passes through, together with its content, forms emotional attachment. In addition to the geographical aspect, attachment to a place contains social, symbolic, psychological, emotional, and behavioral elements. Therefore, the concept of place attachment should be further analyzed with the frameworks provided by all the related academic fields and needs to develop as an interdisciplinary concept.
