특수아동의 문해교육을 위한 아동초기의 문해개념화: 문해출현 對 초기문해

Conceptualizing Early Childhood Literacy for Literacy Education of Children with Special Need: Emergent literacy vs. Early literacy

  본 연구는 아동초기 특수아동의 문해 교수 운용에 지침이 될 수 있는 문해개념에 관한 인식 기반을 제공하기 위해 문해출현 및 초기문해 개념화에 초점을 두어 지식구성, 발달, 학습, 적용 측면에서 두 개념의 관점을 대조ㆍ검토하였으며, 이러한 관점에서 수행된 특수아동의 문해 연구에 대해 고찰하였다. 검토 결과, 문해출현은 Piaget 학파에 근거한 구성주의 입장에 주된 뿌리를 두고 개념화가 이뤄진 반면, 초기문해는 Vygotsky 학파에 기초한 사회문화적 접근을 철저히 반영하면서 개념화되었다: 지식구성-문해출현은 평형화에 기초하여 문해행동 및 문해기술에 중점을 둔 반면, 초기문해는 내면화에 근거하여 맥락적 문해실제를 강조한다. 발달-문해출현은 발달의 불연속성에 비중을 두어 문해가 ‘출현(emergence)한다’고 보는 반면, 초기문해는 전적으로 발달의 연속성에 기초하여 점차적으로 사회문화적 맥락에 맞게 ‘읽고 쓸 줄 알게 된다(being literate)’고 본다. 학습-문해출현은 구성요소별 문해기술습득에 초점을 두는 반면, 초기문해는 사회문화적 맥락에서 이뤄지는 역동적인 학습과정에 중점을 둔다. 적용-문해출현에서는 차이(gap)를 결함(deficit)으로 보는 반면, 초기문해는 차이(difference)를 다양성(diversity)으로 본다. 고찰 결과, 두 개념의 관점에 기초한 특수아동의 문해 연구는 다양한 장애영역에 속한 아동을 대상으로 수행되었으나 대부분 문해출현 관점에서 실행된 것으로 나타났다. 초기문해 관점에 바탕을 두어 문해 실제에 맥락적으로 접근할 때 특수아동을 위한 실제적인(authentic) 문해교육의 질적 향상을 기대할 수 있을 것이며, 문해출현 관점에서 특수아동의 교수중재를 실시하려면 문해출현 구성요소별 교수접근을 하나의 전략으로 이해하여 교수를 전개시켜 나가야 할 것이다.

&nbsp;&nbsp;Literacy development of young children has been conceptualized based on the notions of emergent and early literacy which originated from two different theoretical paradigms: constructivism and social constructionism. The purpose of this study is to delineate the basic tenets of the two contrasting views and to discuss how these views have led theorists and practitioners to a particular set of research questions to understand literacy development of young children with special needs.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;It is revealed that there were distinct differences between emergent literacy and early literacy in terms of the construct of knowledge, development, learning, and application to instruction. In addition, it has founded that most works were based on emergent literacy, although works from these two perspectives have been carried out for various population of young children with disabilities.
