Seoljam was a great person who had spent his life as a Buddhist monk and had been well-known for the three religion, that is, Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism at the beginning of Joseon Dynasty while the country respected Confucianism but oppressed Buddhism at that time. He had been noted for the works in the field of the study of Buddhism as writing various books about Buddhism although there were not that various works about Buddhism of Zen and Kyo sects(non zen buddhism). Here I introduce the study of avata?saka through some of his works such as 『Hua-yensukje』 『Hua-yenbubkyedojoo』 『Sibhyeodamyoehae』, the view of Lotus through his study of Lotus s?tra from 『Yeonkyeongbyeolchan』 and also the view of T`ien-ta`i Tsao-shan through the study of 『Tsao-shanoyeyoohae』. Furthermore, I consider the Buddhism view on the basis of his works related in Buddhism from 『Jabjeo』 and 『Sibjangmoon』. The way he understood Buddhism was not sustained by the only understanding of main ideas or theories of religions, that was, Avata?saka s?tra and Lotus s?tra which was the symbol of Mahayana but he recognized it as the idea of implement. Especially he showed the essence of the Buddhism that he understood Zen and Kyo sects as trying to convert the truth of avata?saka and Lotus to the clear theory of Zen. His view was focused on the field of Lin-chi s?tra at the beginning and finally his view was on Tsao-shan Zen at 『Sibhyeodamyoehae』. And he mostly showed the idea of Lin-chi at the education and scholarship book of 『Hua-yenbubkyedojoo』 and 『Yeonkyeongbyeolchan』.
