A Study on the Co-Opetition Construction of Korean Container Terminal through IP Analysis

  Recently, maritime and port industries are confronted with enormous changes like globalization and have gone a rationalization process over the last decade. To cope with this changing business environment, a certain form of competition and cooperation among ports is necessary so as to provide services that fit into shipping lines" strategies and establish their countervailing power against shipping alliances. This paper aims to confirm a new concept known as co-opetition, the combination of competition and cooperation and cite cases of co-opetition and cooperation among container terminal operators. And then strategic implications based on analysis are suggested for improvement of Korea container terminal industry.
