A Study of "Between composure and Passions"

  Language has an decisive influence not only on our thinking system but also on our emotional system. As we have been exposed to the language of the family or the people around us since childhood, we learn language without a conscious effort. This language is a mother tongue. However, nowadays when we live in a global village, it might be difficult to say. The mother tongue of the Japanese people is necessarily Japanese.   ？？Between composure and passion？？ can be interpreted as a work that deals with an issue of the correlation between this language acquisition and the thinking system or the emotional system. This work often shows the scenes awakening the communicative limitation of language, the insignificance of phoneme or vocabulary, and the uncertainty and limits of language by including as the characters the people ignorant of Japan, who were born and raised abroad. It also functions to newly awaken the meanings unable to be conveyed by means of linguistic signs, that is, the important words of life, through the invisible, inaudible information possessed by the repairing of art pieces or antique jewelry.   Particularly, the painting entitled The hardened relationship between humans and humans presents possibilities of communicating human mind and culture by representing in painting the human mind that cannot be conveyed by the phonetic system. Thus, ？？Between composure and passion？？, which makes indirect recapitulation of the limits of phonetic language or graphic language in the communicative system of human beings through the characters" acts or dialogues without describing them in a referential or explanatory way, shows the new spirit of probing for the human life-style and the linguistic, cultural communication in today"s globalized world.
