The purpose of this article is to introduce the lectures, interviews, assays by the writer himself, and the reviews by others, and with that, to make an attempt to analyze his works. Here, only the significance of work analysis is summarized, since data will be widely utilized for a study to follow.   First, as the features that characterize the ethnic Koreans in Japan the lack of tradition, the agitation of consciousness, nomadicity and isolatedness, and the observance of rituals can be cited. His works reveal those characteristics in many places. In addition, since his readers are also the ethnic Koreans in Japan, his works are soaked with gags and laughter peculiar to Osaka. Won Suil is often simply called “a writer who represents in a bright and humorous way the lives of the ethnic Koreans of the first generation, centering upon those of mothers”. The work analysis in this paper is to explain the aspect of an effective use of Osaka-style gags. This is the very job of explaining the uniqueness of the writer who represents mainly the laughter of the mothers in Ikaino, and further, of the ladies in Osaka. These Osakastyle gags and laughter show the vitality of Ikaino, the brightness as well as toughness of the ethnic Korean mothers in Japan, and the mothers changing from “ethnic Korean women in Japan” to “women in Osaka” before they know, which means the mothers who make a homeland of a strange land.   Not only does he create unique laughter and pleasure, but he deviates from the rigidity of excessive ideology, by using the Jeju Island and Osaka dialects to wrap the national consciousness or political consciousness as the identity of the ethnic Koreans n Japan. Therefore, his novels reads so interesting that it is difficult for readers to stop reading halfway, once they begin to read. Also, reading his works is accompanied by impression besides fun.   However, as he gets older, there is less light touch of Osaka-style gags, which were frequently seen in his early works. This makes the researcher suspect that it hints that a change to the writer"s identity as an ethnic Korean is under way. This will be discussed in another paper.
