This study is to review a compound word of Japanese and Korean. Focused on Japanese “aru” and Korean “issta”, Verbs of Existence"s combination with preceding components and compounding was analyzed by data collected from parallel corpus of Japanese and Korean in Korea University.   The results are as follows.   The results revealed that Japanese “aru” and Korean “issta” functioned as components of a compound word like “suru” and “hata”. However, “aru” or “issta” appears under the limited environment and has higher rate of being used as a modifier. Accordingly, they don"t function properly as a comprehensive compounding component of a predicate verb. The results also revealed that “aru” and “issta” with the structure of “Preceding Components+EV” functioned mainly as Verbs of Existence including the meaning of “Possession”.   As the number of data collected shows, the examples of Korean “issta” as a compound word were more often found than those of Japanese “aru”. Accordingly, it reveals that Korean “issta” is more productive than Japanese “aru”.
