Korea has made a far-reaching and rapid progress in every field, at which the world is surprised. Not only in the areas of economics, science, education, Information Technology and computer science industries, etc., but also in religion, espeicailly Christianity. How could Koreans make a big and rapid progress in each area?   This article is written to answer this question.   There is a deep relationship between "culture" and "society members" personality. I think "culture" and "personality" interact and interpenetrate each other. I believe that Korean socio-cultural structure influences the formation of feelings of "Han" in the Korean people and these feelings of "Han" shape Korean child-rearing processes, which in turn generate the narcissistic-masochistic personality tendencies. And the narcissistic-masochistic tendencies influences Korean culture.   In this article I do not focus on the process of "how narcissistic and masochistic personality plays its role as a factor for the growth of this nation. I made an effort to retrieve the origin of the Korean people"s narcissistic and masochistic personality by examining the concept of "Han" and the method of Korean child-rearing, especially the interaction between mother and child.
