It is widely accepted that most homobimetallic complexes show covalent character in their metal-metal bonds; however, PPN?(ŋ? - MeCp)Mn(CO)₂Y1n(CO)??" is likely to have a donor-acceptor metal-metal bond character as most heterobimetallic complexes have shown. This compound was disrupted by alkyl halide in THF under a nitrogen atmosphere at various temperatures by using the pseudo first order reaction condition where on excess of ethyl bromide was employed. This reaction is overall second order with respect to [homobimetallic complex] and [ethyl bromide].
