The Consciousness and Needs of Participants of Lectures on Hanok for Contemporary Hanok

  The objectives of this study are to research the housing consciousness and needs on Hanok of eager participants of lecture on it, and to suggest the way the contemporary Hanok would take. The results are as follows.   1. The participants of lectures on Hanok are in general high-income professionals or students, who have sufficient money or time.   2. The characteristics of consciousness on Hanok are wooden floor as Maru, yard available as Madang, traditional door and window lattice, southern facing of the house and rooms with traditional furnitures. The preferences of the characteristics of Hanok can be classified by age and occupation.   3. There are needs for spaces assisting contemporary living, such as living room with heat paneled wood flooring, stand-up kitchen and indoor toilet and bathroom. In addition, studying room and cuisine are needed for common use, and bathroom, multi-purpose room, entrance and heating system are needed to be well equipped for convenience of living.
