The Idea and Fashion Image on Kenzo"s Works

  In the twenty first century that which considers the environment of the earth and shows the oneness of nature and man can be regarded as a more important theme in fashion. In this respect, it would be worthwhile to study the works of Takada Kenzo who strongly expresses ecological and ethnic trends.   The big trend in fashion after the nineteen eighties also goes with the world trends like multilateralism, free trade, globalization, individualization, return to tradition and nature, search for postmodernism and deconstruction. Takada Kenzo played an important role in stimulating the conservative, aristocratic, authoritarian Paris fashion society of having about one hundred years of tradition to make an opening into new horizons as listed above.   The method of study was a bibliographical one and many reference books and articles on Takada Kenzo along with other Japanese designers were consulted. The illustrated pictures were gathered from the 2000 Paris collection.   The major points of ideas and images as expressed in the works of Takada Kenzo can be summarized as follows. First, the ideas of liberalism, naturalism and eclecticism were embedded in the works of Takada Kenzo. Second, the fashion images of the works of Takada Kenzo can be divided into ecology look and ethnic look.
