The purpose of this research were to find out the effect of two factors, namely the individual variable of young children- such as age and temperament- and mother"s child rearing style as a family environmental variable on children"s self control, and to examine the relationship between these two types of variables. The participants of this research were 130 3-year-old and 148 5-year-old preschool children and their mothers. The data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, t-test Pearson correlation, and multiple regression.   Results showed that, first impulsivity was higher for three-year-old than five-year-old children, showing that age was a significant factor accounting for the differences in the self-control of children. Second, some correlation were found between the temperament of children and the rearing styles of their mothers. When the mothers were more cordial, responsive, and inductive in their behavior, the children became more adaptive and showed regularity in their temperament. On the contrary, they demonstrated irregularity in their temperament when their mothers showed indifference and inconsistency in their behavior as well as used physical punishments. Third, the variables that mostly influenced children"s self control were children"s activity, and mother"s cordiality, consistency, the amount of control, and the recollection of rules. The variables that influenced the impulsivity factor were children"s activity, and mother"s consistency, physical punishment, and inference.
