Effects of Naloxone on Activity-Stress Ulcer Formation In Rats

  The effect of naloxone on activity-stress gastric ulcer development was examined. Rats were housed in the standard activity-wheel cages and fed for one hour daily. Circadian rhythm was controled artificially(daytime, 06 : 00~18 : 00 ; nighttime, 18 : 00~06 : 00). Naloxone (20.0㎎/㎏, i.p.) was administered two times a day(09 : 00, 21 : 00) after an interval of 12 hours. Naloxone increased in stress ulcer formation and ulcer severity when compare to saline-injected controls. But, other indexes (numbeers of wheel revolution, food and water consumptions, and body weight loses) are similar in two groups. Rats run more in daytime than nighttime, and most during the first one hour session of nighttime.
