A Study on Changes and Implications of Internet based Electronic Commerce Technical Architecture

&nbsp;&nbsp;Impotance of collaborative electronic commerce(e-commerce) is emphasized in Internet. The business-related elements such as service-unification among enterprises, information-unification and channel-renovation are very important to succeed in collaborative e-commerce. Also, Information Technology(IT) that realizes the most efficient e-commerce system is the most important precondition to succeed in business. In accordance, if the functions of collaborative e-commerce system based on XML/EDI of on the Internet are enhanced as an enabler, catalytic agent who makes it possible to realize the e-commerce related elements such as service-unification, information-unification, channel-renovation with low costs, it could have an affirmative influence upon a successful realization of the collaborative e-commerce.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;This paper first classified EDI that is the infrastructure technology among the IT elements that make e-commerce possible into 5 steps; VAN EDI, Internet EDI, Web EDI, XML/EDI, and ebXML. Next, it studied changes and implications of the technological architecture, which are shown at each step, and predicted how they would influence the process of collaborative e-commerce system on the Internet. This paper will hopefully help the internet business and e-business enterprises.
