A Study on the Relationship between Perception of Self and Clothing Behaviors for Adult Women

  The mam objective of this study was to find out the relationship between perception of self and clothing behaviors.   Perception of self was measured with perception of self test from Choi"s Perceptual Orientation Scale. Clothing behaviors-appearance, fashion, psychological dependence, social approval-were measured with items from Gurel"s study and Creekmore"s method of measuring clothing variables.   Subjects were adult women living in Seoul area. The questionnaire was administered to 385 women during the summer of 1993. For statistical analysis, frequency distribution, one-way analysis of variance, Duncan"s multiple range test, t-test, regression were used.   The results were as follows :   1. There was positive significant relationship between perception of self and clothing behaviors.   2. There were partically significant differences in clothing behaviors according to demographic variables. Age and education affected appearance, fashion. Marital status and education affected psychological dependence.
