A Study on the Cross-border PKI Interoperability for e-Trade

&nbsp;&nbsp;Global electronic commerce pertains the difficulties in finding the trueness of identities and the ensuring the clearness of contents, due to the transaction made without the personal contact. PKI is often used to solve above difficulties by enforcing user identification in various electronic commerce situation such as internet banking, online trading, internet trade, etc.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;But in the global electronic commerce, it is recognized that current PKI systems and policies in nation are different in many aspects. So, achieving cross-border PKI interoperability is required to ensure mutually profitable global electronic commerce. Each national government and the various meetings and working groups including Asia PKI Forum or APEC Tel, have cooperated together to achieve PKI interoperability under participation of several countries, Korea, Singapore, China, etc.. America and Europe also are on the same boat with Asian countries.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;The main purpose of this study is to show the basic directions in develop the PKI interoperability guideline in terms of its system, the policy, laws, application, and business related requirements by reviewing the strength and weakness of the existing PKI interoperability efforts. Further, this study give, some useful insights and understanding on the cross-border PKI interoperability.
