Informatization and the Change of Rural Areas

  The purpose of this study is to investigate a causal relationship between the informatization and change of rural areas. There have been an optimistic view and a pessimistic view about informatization. Optimistic view has stressed on informatization that will relax restrictions of location. Pessimistic view has stressed on informatization that will deepen digital divide. While dominant theories of informatization have stressed post-industrial society that relax restrictions of location, and balanced regional development, however, other theories dispute such optimistic forecasts. This theoretical paper drives a balanced insight paralleling diverse theoretical arguments of informatization focusing on rural areas. More specifically, the present study investigates change of rural areas by way of infortization, the way of informatization. We find that way of informatization have had a key role in the change of rural areas.
