Simulation of Traffic Noise Reduction Effect by Road Construction Types

  Generally, the intercity artery roads connecting new towns with their central city detours the new towns, for it affect the environment of the residents in the new towns. However, the detoured artery roads cause more energy and time consumption during accessing them. From this reason, this research proposed several construction types of highway passing through new town areas and simulated traffic noise which could be generated from the roads. The SoundPlan, a commercial noise map preparation software, is used for this task. The research confirmed that the road construction types as well as the types and arrangement of buildings are important planning factors to reduce traffic noise from the roads.
