Study on gum(錦) and Kee(綺) In ancient korean

  From the survey of relevant literatures, ancient Korean gum and kee were discussed in terms of kind and weaves and the following conclusions were de-duced.   1) Gums(brocade) can be divided into various technica sub-groups, it is more convenient to simply discuss them as either warp-patterned gum ar as weft patterned gum,   Wafrp-patterned gum is made using warp threds uf two or more colors and weft thredds of only one color.   The colored warp threads are picked up individually or as a group by the weft thread to make the desired pattern.   Weft-patterned gum, is just the reverse of warp-patterned gum, the warp thredds, are all of one color, while the weft threads are of two or more colors.   2) Kee can be divided twill on a plain or Floated-pattern twill on plain.
