  This dissertation is studying the archetypal symbol to get the entire meaning structure of Seo jeongjoo"s poems with the analysis of archetypal image. And the archetypal image created by the imagination relates a poem with others, so it becomes a symbol, unifying and generalizing the literary experience.   Following the analysis, blood signifies the word of passional sense with the animal imagination. And when blood comes to realize the life and death, it inquires into the life consciousness of human being and then transfers to water and gold gradually.   The mineral imagination through jewel want to get the warm generation and stable world. It"s because the jewel is a kind of light with stable shape and has the value of completion due to its fullness and solidity. Also jewel signifies wholeness, unity and absolute world of eternity, with the round shape.   Flower transfers to flower, reigning the strong desire of passional blood. This flower is real and calm, so it gains the stability. blooming incliness to the openness, and it means a being to completion.   Thus, Seo Jeong-joo accomplishes his wishful poem through the image that show the archetypal imagination. These archetypal images are interrelated with each other and they are primary and basic images that causes the poetic imagination, while they constitute the substance of poetic variation. So, they rule his mind as a transcendental value thoroughly and shows the finality of mental activities.
