Lasnik&quot;s(1995) enlightened self-interest analysis with partitive Case theory suggests null hypothesis. Chomsky&quot;s(1995) pure expletive analysis cannot help separating Case away from &lt;EPP&gt;.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Accordingly, I specify the existential expletive there construction that shows a systematic relation according to Agree (Chomsky 1998, 1999, 2001). Unaccusative and passivized verbs are the predicate constraint. The associate NP is rooted on the definiteness effect. The locality supported by defective intervention constraint should be considered in cyclicity. Embedded complete φ-feature and uninterpretable expletive &quot;there&quot; serve as the defective intervention constraint.
