화엄경 보현행(普賢行)의 교육적 함의

The Educational Implications of Bohyunhang in Avatamsaka Sutra

&nbsp;&nbsp;The purpose of this study is to examine the meanings of Bohyunhang in Avatamsaka Sutra, and to derive its educational implications.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Avatamsaka Sutra is the most important sutra in Mahayana Buddhism. It contains Buddhist sermons preached by Bodhisattvas on behalf of Buddha. The main thought of Avatamsaka Sutra is Bohyunhang, the way of Bodhisattva, which pursues awakening and the salvation of living things. Therefore, in Avatamsaka Sutra, a Bodhisattvas means a Samantabhadra. Generally, Bodhisattva not only pursues awakening but also endeavor to have all living things awakened. In Avatamsaka Sutra, the stages of training to Bodhisattva are variously and specifically presented. They are Sipju(十住), Siphang(十行), Siphoihiang(十回向), Sipji(十地), ect. they correspond to ten paramitas, and are finally concluded to the action of &quot;by benefitting oneself, one benefits others&quot;.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Educational implications of Bohyunhang are as follows. First, on the path of education, correct belief and resolution should be the starting point. Second, education should aims at the practice for the perfection of life. Third, education should intend to broaden the horizon of knowing and recover humanistic view. Fourth, education should be the learning of practice for &quot;living together&quot;.
