The young German dancers in 1960"s had put forward to a new dance by protesting against the classical ballet and combining an experimental theater and American contemporary dance. It is Tanztheater, German new modern dance that is based on the repentence of pre-generation facing the situation. Comparing with American modern dance which is rather abstract, Tanztheater has played an important role in implanting synchronous dance and the notion of real world, extending the role of dancer to gather a new audience and broadening the scope of modern dance as a general art. Pina Bausch is inevitable to Tanztheater. She has pioneered it and improved it very rapidly. Although it is not easy to explain her status in view of modern dance, we can find the importance of her by recognizing the fact that her contribution on Tanztheater is to expand the horizon of dance by using the characteristics of theater and general effects to the vague dacce art and enable an audience to feel it, and light on the community of dance.
