A study on the comparison of personality between players and general students in the high school

&nbsp;&nbsp;The purposes of this study were to compare the personality of players and that of general students in the high school and to provide ones with useful information for selecting players and guidance.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;To achieve the above purposes, 701 high school students were selected in the Suwon-City as subjects. Two hundred and seventy-four students of them were players and 427 students were general students. The instrument used for the study was Personality Inventory.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;The major findings of this study were as follows:<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;A. The comparison of personality of players with that of general students.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;1. In the subfactors of personality, there were statistically significant differences in Activity, Domination, and Sociability between male players and male general students. That is, all scores in three domain of male players were higher than that of male students.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;2. In the subfactors of personality, there were statistically significant differences in Anxiety, Depression, and Paranoia between female players and female general students. That is, all scores in three domain of female players were higher than that of female students.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;B. The comparison of personality of general students by department.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;1. There was statistically significant difference in sociability between male students in a technical high school and ones in a liberal high school.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;2. There were statistically significant differences in sociability and Paranoia between female students in a technical high school and ones in a liberal high school.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;C. The comparison of personality of players by events.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;For male players at team events, their scores of Stablity and Autonomy were higher than those of ones at indeividual and personal events. For Anxiety, the score of male players at individual events was higher than that of ones at team events, and the scores of Depression and Paranoia of male players at personal events were higher than those of ones at individual and team events.
