A Study on the Dance of North Korea

&nbsp;&nbsp;The dance in North Korea is subordinate to politics before being art and the personal subjectivity of the father and son, Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, becomes what should be as such for it, and it is evaluated not on the existence worth as dance itself but by how much it contributes to the revolution and construction work of the Party.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Followings are the characteristics of the Juche(independence)-like dance art which is advocated by North Korea:<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;First, it contains the distinctly &quot;ideological, emotional content&quot; that helps lead the people mass to the striving way for realization of independence by enhancing the revolution spirit of them.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Second, it is constituted by the beautiful and delicate, rhythmic movements peculiar to the Korean nation fitting the sentiment of the people, and also in national trait in harmony with the accompaniment music. It is accordingly characterized as the dacce showing the &quot;national flavor&quot; that all the people like.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Third, in their Juche-like dance, the method of musical form and many stage-artistic effects like setting, scenery, etc. are combined well together and in a diversified way to impressively express and deliver the ideological content of a work.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;From above, it can be understood that the dance of North Korea and ours have been developed over again in their own directions which are greatly different from each other, in political, ideological conflict and in the respective heterogeneous cultures, as the division of the Korean peninsula has got more coherent after the Liberation. At this point, it is not sufficient only to make that cultural heterogeneity a subject of discussion, but more necessary to make all the possible efforts including substantial cultural exchange in order to recover the homogeneity as the same national culture and further explore new progressive ways toward great unity of the national unification.
