The purpose of this study is to grasp the somatological measurment of the students by region by measuring the thickness of subcutaneous fat by means of body dimensios and two-skinfold pinching on the male middle school students and high school students in the big cities and rural communities. As a result, the following conclusion was reached on the standard value of body weight and the rate of obesity.
1. Stature:It was shown that the increase value of the statue for the students in the urban areas was somewhat higher than that for the students in the rural areas as the condition of growth in stature belonging to the age group between the full age 12 and 17 showed and increase of 20.9㎝ for the students in the urban areas and of 19.9㎝ for the students in the rural areas. It was revealed that the entire average stature stood at 165.2㎝ for the students in the urban areas and at 161.8㎝ for the students in the rural areas. Accordingly these students in the urban areas were taller by 3.4㎝ than those students in the rural areas.
2. Body weight:It was shown that the increase value of the weights for the students in the urban areas was somewhat higher than that for the students in the rural areas as the condition or growth in weights belonging to the age group between the full age 12 and 17 showed an increase of 21.0㎏ for the students in the urban areas and of 20.99㎏ for the students in the rural areas. It was revealed that the entire average weights stood ant 57.09㎏ for the students in the urban areas and at 51.45㎏ for the students int the rural areas. Accordingly, these students in the urban areas were higher than those students in the rural areas.
3. The grigh of chest:It was shown that the increase value of the grith of the urban students" chest was somewhat higher than that for the students in the rural areas as the condition of growth in grith of the chest bvelonging to the age group bvetrween the full age 12 and 17 showed an increase of 17.22㎝ for the students in the urban areas and of 13.82㎝ for the students in the rural areas. It was revealed that the entire average grith of students" chest stood at 81.83㎝ for the students in the urban areas and at 78.10㎝ for the students in the rural areas. Accordingly, these students in the urban areas were higher by 3.73㎝ than those students in the rural areas.
4. Sitting height:It was shown that the increase value of the sitting height for the students in the urban areas was somewhat higher than that for the students in the rural areas as the condition of growth in sittion height belonging to the age group between the full age 12 and 17 showed an increase of 1.19㎝ for the students in the urban areas and of 14.2㎝ for the students in the rural areas. It was revealed that the entire average sitting height stood at 87.5㎝ for the students in the urban area and at 85.49㎝ for the students in the rural areas. Accordingly, these students in the urban areas were higher than those students in the rural areas.
5. It was shown that the increase value of the stature, the body weight, the grith of the students" chest, and sittig height for the urban students was entirely higher than that rural students by the region and the age.
6. The thickness of subcutaneous fat:It was revealed that the entire average thickness of subctaneous fat in four regions such as the abdomen, the lumber, the subscapular, and the upper arm was 15.3±9.67㎜ for the students in the urban areas and 13.13ㆍ7.15㎜ for the students in the rural areas. Accordingly, it was higher by 2.40㎜ for the students in the urban areas than the students in the rural areas. As a result of measuring the subcutaneous fat on four regions, it was shown that all the "students in both the urban areas and the rural areas had much subcutaneous fat in order of the abdomen>the lumber>the upper arm>the subsca
