The purpose of this study was to investigate cardiorespiratory function and leg muscle mass in long distance runner. Subjects were composed of fourteen young mens that they are middle school and college student. They are calssified excellent and normal group according to the record. Body Height and weight were not significant difference. The l.5㎞ and 10㎞ running record were significantly more fast in excellent group than normal group. O₂max(㎖ / min) and O₂pulse max were significantly more fast in excellent group than normal group, but O₂max/wt(㎖/㎏/min) and HRmax were not significant difference. Left ventricular structure and function were more high in excellent group than normal group, but not statistically significant difference. Also Upper and lower leg muscle mass were more high in excellent group than normal group, but not statistically significant difference. In conclusion, although excellent group have the good records than normal group, cardiac structure and function and leg muscle mass as well as body composition were not significant difference. these results suggest that long distance running record are decided by other external factors.
