가상 공동체와 사회적 자본

  본 연구는 가상 공동체 활동의 특성 변인이 공동체 참여자의 사회 연결망 확대와 사회적 자본의 획득에 미치는 영향을 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국의 대표적인 포탈 사이트인 다음(daum) 과 프리챌(freechal) 에서 가상 공동체의 일원으로 활동중인 직장인들 94명으로부터 얻은 설문조사자료를 분석하였다. 분석 결과 참여하는 가상 공동체의 수와 다양성, 몰입정도, 물리적 공간에서의 추가적인 접촉이 가상 공동체 활동을 통해 얻을 수 있는 네트워크 효과, 즉 사회적 연결망의 확대와 사회적 자본의 획득-필요한 정보의 획득 및 업무에 도움을 얻을 수 있는 제 3 자를 소개받은 경험에 정적인 영향을 미치고 있음을 발견하였다.

  This study investigated the effects of virtual community participation of individuals on the expansion of their social networks and social capital. For this goal. 94 data were gathered and analyzed from people who participate in virtual communities based on the daum.net and the freechal.com. The main results show the number of participating virtual communities, the diversity of the virtual communities, the degree of commitment of virtual communities and the participation at the real world meetings are important components to enlarge and obtain one’s social networks and social capital.
