Storytelling을 활용한 수준별 수업이 초등학생의 어휘력 향상에 미치는 효과

  The purpose of this study was to develop a variety of enriching/supplementary differentiated teaching methods using ‘storytelling’. These methods could satisfy students" imagination and curiosity, and provide meaningful linguistic input in the elementary classroom The two main research questions were: First, what effects does storytelling have on the reading ability of Korean elementary school students? Second, what effects does storytelling have on the writing ability of Korean elementary school students? The following are the main findings: Most of the students participated in the various activities with a high degree of motivation and interest after listening to the English storybook In addition, they had more confidence and a higher ability in vocabulary. In conclusion, storytelling-based teaching is very useful in attracting the students" interests and in developing a higher ability in vocabulary. It is suggested, therefore, that the introduction of more storybooks and more storytelling be initiated throughout the EFL curriculum.
