Constructing an Evaluation Model for the Professors" Academic Achievement in the Humanities

  이 연구는 인문학 분야 연구결과의 질적 수준을 향상시키기 위한 평가모형 개발을 목적으로 하고 있다. 현행 평가방식이 평가의 신뢰도에 치중하면서 보다 중요한 평가의 타당도를 무시하는 문제가 있기 때문에 이를 해결하기 위한 방안으로 인문학의 특수성을 반영하는 평가모형을 개발하려고 한다. 이 연구의 초점은 현재 대학에서 활용되는 인문학 분야의 교수 연구업적 평가모형이 가진 문제점을 찾아내고 이를 극복하는 대안적 모형의 개발에 있다. 교수승진 심사에 있어서 연구논문을 중시하는 분야와 학술저서를 중시하는 분야로 구분하여 평가방식을 고안해 보았다. 특히 학술저서를 중시하는 대부분의 인문학 분야에서는 학술저서가 연구논문보다 훨씬 큰 가치를 가질 수 있도록 평가체계를 구성했다. 동시에 학술저서와 연구논문에 대한 평가에 있어 연구 업적의 수량적 평가보다는 질적 수준을 평가의 우선적 지표로 삼도록 제안한다.

  This study intends to construct an evaluation model for the review of professors" research products in the humanities. Current models, largely adapted from the one developed in the natural sciences and engineering, contains some problems, which stems from their pursuit of reliability, not validity, of the evaluation. One effective way to enhance validity of the evaluation in an alternative model is to take peculiarities of the humanities into account. Among others, some disciplines in the humanities differ from others in their emphasis on the publication of academic books vis-a-vis that of research papers. In developing the alternative model, therefore, this paper suggests different evaluation models for the two heterogeneous fields of humanities. At the same time, the new model considers the quality of research papers and academic books is much more important than the quantity of research products in evaluating research capabilities of professors in the humanities.
