한국 언론의 부권상실론의 변화와 정치성

The Politics of Discourse on Loss of Father"s Right in the Korean Press

&nbsp;&nbsp;이 연구는 한국 여성의 지위는 남성보다 취약한 현실임에도 불구하고 언론에서는 끊임없이 남성위기론이 제기되어왔다는 문제의식에서 출발하여, 부권상실을 주제로 한 한국 신문기사 116개에 대한 내용분석을 시도했다. 부권상실 담론은 1970년대 중반에 이미 ‘발톱 빠지고 이빨 빠진 호랑이’, ‘거세된 위엄’ 등의 비유를 동원해 부권상실 세태를 신랄하게 비판하는 모습으로 등장하여, 1990년대 말 대량실업 사태 이후에는 아버지의 비애와 소외감을 집중적으로 부각시킨 위기 담론으로 증폭되었다.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;부권위기 담론에서는 대체로 강화된 모권과 페미니즘을 부권약화와 남성위기를 초래한 원인으로 지목하는 경향을 보인다. 불손한 자식 세대에 대한 비판과 함께 ‘부모’의 권위 약화를 우려했던 기사들은 1970년대 전반에서 그치고, 그 이후부터는 모권과 부권을 제로섬 원리의 지배를 받는 대립적인 것으로 그리고 있다. 이처럼 무력화되는 남성 대 세력화되는 여성이라는 구도로 작성된 부권상실 기사들은, 가부장제 사회를 유지하는 핵심기제인 부권과 성별 권련관계를 바라보는 전통적인 관념 틀 안에서 프레임 되었다고 해석할 수 있다. 2005년도에 들어서야 가정에 부재하고 무관심했던 아버지들의 자아성찰과 그런 삶을 강요해온 사회구조적 조건에 대한 비판과 함께, 가족들과 일상의 삶을 공유하는 자상하고 민주적인 아버지 역할을 모색하는 방향으로 언론의 아버지 담론이 선회하고 있다.

&nbsp;&nbsp;This study started from the question why the Korean Press has continuously created discourses on male crisis, while in reality the social status of Korean women is still lower than that of Korean men. This study analysed the contents of 116 articles of Korean daily newspapers focused on loss of father&quot;s right. In the mid 1970s, the discourses already appeared, which compared the crash of father&quot;s authority with a helpless tiger without claws and teeth. Mass unemployment of late 1990s amplified the discourses on fathers&quot; crisis with metaphors of male grief and alienation.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;These discourses tend to be critical of strengthen mother&quot;s right and feminism, only in the early 1970s insolent children were blamed for father&quot;s weakened power. Mother&quot;s right was portrayed as an antagonistic relationship with father&quot;s under the principle of zerosum. The press tone of male crisis has been framed within the traditional notions about father&quot;s right and power relationship by gender. Very recently, the discourses on father&quot;s difficulties change their direction from blaming women toward sociocultural conditions which have demanded fathers absent at horne and their indifference.
