硏經齋 成海應의 敍事漢詩에 대하여 - 형상화 특징과 주제의식을 중심으로

A Study on the Chinese Epic Poem of Yeonkyungjae Sung, Hae-eung

  본고는 조선후기 정조·순조 연간에 활동한 학자이자 문인인 硏經齋 成海應(1760~1839)의 서사한시 중 작품성이 뛰어난「田不關行」과「有客行」, 그리고「義僕行」을 중심으로, 그 형상화 양상과 주제의식을 논의하였다. 이 작품들은 ‘서사한시’임을 염두에 두더라도 ‘서사의 객관적 진술’이 두드러지는데, 이는 성해응의 산문문학에서도 확인된 중요한 형상화의 특징이다. 성해응은 그의 산문문학, 특히 뛰어난 문학성을 지닌 방대한 분량의 傳과 記事, 人物誌 등을 통해, 서사에 많은 관심과 특장을 지녔음을 보여주었다. 전과 기사, 인물지는 모두 사실에 의거하여 직서적으로 서술하는 장르인 만큼, 據事直筆의 기록의식은 성해응의 중요한 글쓰기 태도인 셈이다. 그런데 이러한 특징이 그의 서사한시에도 오롯이 투영되어 있음을 확인하는 작업은 의미가 있다. 이를 통해 ‘서사의 객관적 진술’은, 그의 산문문학뿐만 아니라 시문학까지도 아울러 통섭하는 형상화의 중요한 방법임을 확인할 수 있기 때문이다. 한편, 성해응은 사회적으로 소외된 계층에 남다른 관심과 애정을 지닌 바, 이러한 의식의 연장선에서 봉건적 신분질서 아래 고통받는 민의 목소리에 귀를 기울이고 자신이 직접 耳聞目睹한 민의 실상을 서사한 시 속에 응축시켰다. 특히 기녀제도와 연좌제의 폐지 등을 주장한 것은 애민의식에 바탕한 현실주의적 작가의식을 지녔다고 고평할 수 있다.

&nbsp;&nbsp;This paper discusses how Yeonkyungjae Sung, Hae-eung(1760~1839) shaped the phases and subjects of the Chinese epic poem. The noticeable characteristics of his works are the objective statement and presentation of secondary figures in his Chinese epic poem. Sung, Hae-eung&quot;s interest in the epic poem can be found in his enormous quantity of books, articles and written records on certain persons. As biograpies, articles and written records on certain persons are described objectively based on the facts, his approach to record the facts in his works is one of the essential features of his writing methods. Furthermore, it is an important fact that these characteristics are also reflected on his Chinese epic poem. From his Chinese epic poem, we find that the objective statement is an important method of shaping his prose and poetry.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Furthermore, since Sung, Hae-eung had peculiar interest and affection in socially neglected class, he advocated abolishing the guilt-by-association system and Gisaeng system, an official system of hiring dancing girls for government officials at the time. He wanted to speak for the people who suffered under the feudal social order system. It was his intention to solve people&quot;s agony in reality. Thus, he is judged as a realistic writer who cared for the ordinary people.
